ABSTRACT
The philosopher Immanuel Kant had a great interest in keeping human dignity intact and had, in his liberal approach and perspective, a certain source for World Peace. The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights from the UN has a Kantian influence. The idea proposed by the philosopher was the existence of supranational structures whose purpose was to guarantee World Peace. However, if the reality of the UN is contrasted with the ideas proposed by Immanuel Kant, it is clear, without much difficulty, that both take different paths. To begin with, Kant’s idea was to have a supranational institution that had effective action and massive support from the nations of the world, however, this isn’t the observable reality. In this study, we will present the discrepancies between Kant’s ideas and the current configuration of the UN and its actions without much effectiveness.
